The nooks and crannies of getting a JetSmarter membership

Popularly known as the ‘Uber for private jets’, JetSmarter has brought about quite a revolution in the private aviation industry. The company is known to offer 4,000 miles of free travel to all its customers, which is a scrumptious deal for regular flyers and business travelers.

Wondering how JetSmarter works? The private aviation player offers four different services – Charter Broking, Shared Charter, Shared Shuttles and Jet Deals. With Charter Broking, you can book an entire aircraft to yourself. However, if you are on a budget and still want to enjoy the luxury of a private jet, you can opt for Shared Shuttles, where you can share empty-leg flights with other passengers.

On the other hand, Shared Charter service allows you to book an aircraft for yourselves and sell the spare seats. This service is great if you are unsure about the number people going to travel with you. Another JetSmarter service, Jet Deals allows you to access last-minute flights.

A standard JetSmarter membership costs about $15,000 for the first year. In the second year, the membership fee drops down to $13,000. With the standard membership, you can fly as many times as you like on last-minute empty leg flights and shorter shuttles. That means, that you know longer have to wait for or juggle between airlines and their hassles. Just get on the app and book a jet to your destination.

Although a membership is not necessary to avail the awesome services JetSmarter has to offer, a membership would help you save some extra bucks that you might otherwise be spending on your air tickets through commercial airlines.

For example, a seat on a Gulfstream GIV SP between White Plains New York and London Luton at 9 am on 24 February 2017 was priced at $5,990 for a guest, while it was offered to a JetSmarter member for just $3,430. On the other hand, American Airlines was offering a first-class flight for $10,794 at the same time.

For those who think shelling out $15,000 is a big deal, fret not! JetSmarter also offers a cheaper alternative. The Founder’s membership costs just $5,000 for a year. However, it comes with only one token which could be used to book charters as well as empty leg flights.

Cancellation fees are applicable to both, the guests and the members, even if the latter have used their token for reserving a seat instead of paying for one. You have to pay $250 if you cancel more than seven days prior to your day of travel. However, the cancellation fee spikes up to $1,000 if you cancel more than 24 hours before. In case you decide to cancel with less than 24 hours to go, you have to pay the full price of a seat.

JetSmarter is perfect for people who frequently go vacay, as well as for people who travel regularly to the same cities owing to their business or work.
